Two beautifully restored quirky Victorian farm buildings, once part of the famous watercolourist and illustrator Jemima Blackburn’s Roshven House Estate. Now stunning well appointed accommodation for six and two guests respectively. Set in 26 acres of garden and wild grounds with direct footpath access to local beaches from where breath-taking views of the Small Isles and the distant Skye Cullin can be seen on a nice day!
This is classy but reasonably priced accommodation, the sort we’d like to stay in ourselves that also allows a dog (or two) to join in the family fun! We are fantastically located just off the Road to the Isles with easy access to so much of the most beautiful and evocative west coast scenery. However, the properties are a quiet haven set in the midst of unspoilt grounds, perfect to return to after a hard day sight-seeing or taking a wildlife trip to one of the islands. The Cart Barn and its quirky turret provides accommodation for six guests in three bedrooms. One double on the ground floor has its own en-suite shower and WC while the two bedrooms, one twin and one Master share a bautiful bathroom with shower on the first floor. There is also a large kitchen-diner, utility room (space to store all that ‘kit’), a separate WC and a spacious living room with plenty of comfortable seating. Both building provide free WI-FI and have flat screen TV’s and music stations.
The Smiddy was renovated in 2016 and now provides luxury accommodation for two; with a cast iron king-sized bed in the bed-sitting room (boasting a lovely wood-fired stove, so cosy on a cool autumn evening) with comfortable chairs; a large walk in shower room and a well-appointed kitchen/diner. Additionally, a large entrance porch and boot room gives our guests that bit more space for all of that out-door pursuits ‘kit’ that might come in handy when visiting an area so richly blessed in flora, fauna and spectacular coastline.
