Ali Affleck at Ardgour Memorial Hall
Part of Scotland on Tour, Ardgour Memorial Hall is delighted to welcome Ali Affleck.
The authentic Scottish voice of American popular music, old time jazz and rootsy blues, Ali Affleck is in the vanguard of classy musicians and singers bringing old school jazz to new ears.
Early jazz historian and Best Jazz Vocalist at the Scottish Jazz Awards, Ali Affleck is the ‘go to’ vocalist for authentic American popular music, old time jazz and rootsy blues. A compelling musical storyteller with family ties to musical royalty in the shape of the legendary opera singer Dame Nellie Melba, Ali pays her dues to the pioneering women of early music such as Bessie Smith, Sophie Tucker and Maxine Sullivan. Her feisty interpretations of classic roots blues and jazz are set off to perfection by her own original songs, breathing new life into a rarified musical world, and leading the charge for bringing old school Jazz back to the attention of modern ears.
Ali has toured worldwide, working regularly for the BBC and Jazz Scotland, and has appeared at some of the most revered jazz festivals in the world, including the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans.
