Young traditional musician of the year finalist 2022, Malin is joined by acclaimed musicians Luc McNally (Dosca, Snuffbox) on bouzouki and Sally Simpson (Heisk, Westward the Light) on fiddle.

Malin Lewis is delighted to be coming ’home’ to play in Glenuig Hall on the 22nd July with band Malin makes Music. Malin’s early years were spent growing up in Eilean Shona in Moidart before moving to Skye where they took up piping, taught by Iain Ruaridh Finlayson and Dr Angus MacDonald.

A graduate of the Conservatoire in Glasgow, Malin has also studied folk music at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki learning the tradition of the extinct Finnish bagpipes.

Malin plays a set of unique self-made two octave smallpipes that are opening up new possibilities for piping.

The band will perform an eclectic concoction of Malin’s own compositions along with traditional music from Finland, Karelia and Bulgaria.

Their sound has been described as ‘Beautiful and raw’ and ‘a breath of fresh air’.
